Map of our route today!

Journey in a Nutshell
We got up to light snow and temperatures around 10 above 0, We had a great breakfast of pancakes and eggs and then got on the trail.... this area is very mountainous with alot of steep climbs that you would not wish on a mountain goat, much less yourself. Betty had trouble a couple of times (see below), but managed to survive the day. We got into Manitouwadge, Ontario about 5:30.... everyone was exhausted. I am typing this wishing I was in the bed already.... wait a minute everyone else is already asleep.....

Please email us, we enjoy getting Mail !!!

Here we see both Betty and George stuck... First Betty missed the curve and then George tried to make a trail next to her so we could get her out easier.... George hit a rock and buried his sled... now we have two stuck..... A little cardo to get you going in the morning.

Betty had a rough time in the trails today... They were very difficult... in snow skiing they would be labeled "Double black Diamonds" (very difficult!) We also think that the polar bears may have caused this one.... she had a Coke in her right saddle bag...

We decided to take a less traveled secondary trail D110A from Marathon to Manitouwadge, Ontario. After riding about 20 miles we ran into a group of other snowmobilers from Michigan.... and as it turned out, one of the riders, Sandy Bauer is a colleague of Betty's at MSU, they have known each other for 15 years.

Another spectacular sunset.... Fortunately for us it marks the end of our most difficult riding day to date.

Pete mounted the Digital Video camera on his helmet pointing backward, then he drove down the trail about 30 miles an hour. Whatever it takes to get the shot. (Click here to download movie)"it may take up to 10 minutes download"
